Release of SimpleOne SDLC 1.0.0

We are pleased to announce the first release of the SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle) application on the SimpleOne platform. The application enables easy management of product and project lifecycles: selecting the optimal development methodology (Scrum or Kanban), creating products, and decomposing them into modules. The application’s interface will be intuitive for any IT specialist and allow the use of familiar tools to solve typical tasks.

The SDLC application will enhance development efficiency by adopting the Agile methodology that suits your needs, ensure transparency in the development process, and optimize resource allocation. It allows adding tasks of various types to Scrum/Kanban boards to track development progress and perform releases upon completion of each stage.

List of features included in the first release of the application:

  • Project Creation. Available settings:

    • Basic project data: project name and project code used for quick task identification.
    • Association with a product the project is dedicated to.
    • Selection of task types available for the project (configuration available only for projects dedicated to product development or enhancement).
    • Selection of development approach (Scrum or Kanban).
    • Project team composition (role-based system includes project managers and participants).

  • Product Creation. Available capabilities:

    • Managing products through statuses.
    • Dividing products into modules and submodules to establish a clear product structure and simplify the development process.
    • Creating child products.
    • Defining product and module owners.
    • Creating releases and defining the list of tasks to be included in them.
    • Performing releases.
    • Archiving outdated releases.

  • Task Creation. Available capabilities:

    • Selection of task type based on its position in the task hierarchy: epic, feature, user story, defect, general task, subtask.
    • Managing tasks through statuses.
    • Planning and logging effort.

  • Task Boards, which differ depending on the selected development approach. Available capabilities:

    • Board element configuration:
      • Columns
      • Swimlanes (Kanban boards only)
      • Swimlane rules (Kanban boards only)
      • Areas (Kanban boards only)
      • Badges
      • Color markers
      • Additional attributes
    • Drag-and-drop cards between statuses
    • Managing task cards from the board
    • Sprint information (Scrum approach only)

In addition to the differences between Scrum and Kanban boards, the application provides other unique features depending on the selected development approach:

  • Kanban: backlog replenishment, WIP limits for columns and areas.
  • Scrum: creation and management of sprints, team capacity estimation, task estimation in story points.

We will continue to develop and improve SDLC. Future versions will include tools such as:

  • WYSIWYG editor for task descriptions.
  • Integration capabilities with Git version control systems for release planning.
  • Utility for easy migration of projects from Jira Software.
