The SimpleOne Kanban board promotes a pull-based workflow. It implements key Kanban concepts: WIP limits, paired statuses, and service classes, all of which ensure smooth team collaboration, minimize errors, and deliver high-quality final products or services. Using this Kanban board brings company processes closer to full alignment with Kanban methodology and lean production principles.
The Kanban board integrates easily and efficiently into company workflows. Based on the pull-based production principle, the board enables coordination of team work and current workload. Task cards move across the board from left to right as their status changes, preventing transition to the next status unless all conditions or related tasks have been completed. Each board column has a separate WIP limit, preventing employees from being overloaded with too many concurrent tasks.
Kanban Board vs Task Board
Unlike the existing Task Board on the platform and similar products on the market, cards on the Kanban board move automatically when the task status changes, WIP limits in columns and areas are highlighted when reached, and information about blocked cards—those with additional conditions or restrictions—is displayed.
Numerous Kanban board settings allow you to define the optimal layout for your team, create the required number of columns and group them into areas, customize card content, and configure filtering and sorting conditions.
The Task Board lacks these settings; card movement is manually performed by users and allows movement in any direction across the board, violating Kanban principles and potentially leading to insufficient work quality.
Where It Is Stored and How to Configure Access
All Kanban boards are stored as records in a separate Kanban Board table. Boards become visible to other users only after being published—by checking the Public checkbox on the Kanban board form under the Board Configuration tab. For security, when creating each Kanban board, you can configure Access Criteria; if no access criteria are set, the board will be viewable by all users.

Board Configuration
For convenience, essential fields to display are pre-filled by the system—Title and Responsible Person—taken directly from the records themselves and editable as needed.
Additionally, the card display configuration form includes an option to define a Blocking Field. This can be any True/False field, such as checkboxes, indicating that task completion has additional conditions—for example, linked defects. In this case, a lock icon [image] will appear on the task card.
To display elapsed time on cards—for example, duration in the current status—specify the corresponding Date/Time column in the Time Field.
Filtering and sorting by attributes are configured via Filter Conditions. This allows you to display task cards—for example—only for a specific team and arrange them in the desired order on the board.
Design and Management
The Kanban board form includes buttons to optimize the board’s appearance and add it to Favorites for quick access on the platform.
To access Kanban board settings, click the [image] button in the upper-right corner. There you will also find the Fix Column Width checkbox to align column widths for easier card readability. If unchecked, columns will automatically adjust to the window width.
To the left of the board name is a [image] button for quickly adding the board to the Favorites menu.
Columns and areas change color based on their level of occupancy, signaling when WIP limits are reached or exceeded. Users can customize the Kanban board’s appearance with the following options:
- Choosing colors for task card badges,
- Setting an image as the Kanban board background.
